Anyone confirm if the unit has LAN ports? I already have a wifi router @home, I just want to switch to another isp because my current isp is like ‘hell’ (digihell).
Yes the LAN port can be plugged into a regular router so you can share it with many using a wired LAN.  And the speeds I get near a SMART antenna is over 1 mbps up to over 2 mbps and using it on the ship to Manila recently I got over 1 mbps consistenly.  But remember the contract is only for the province you subscribe which is a real bummer.  And the complicated sign up process review is much too time consuming but once you get it and if your near an SMART antenna make sure you add your own antenna from CDRking or other cell antenna to get the full value for your money.
Get an cheap antenna from CDR King here it will double or more your reception or get an outside cell phone antenna and attach it to the antenna port on the router  http://www.cdrking.com.ph/just type in the search box antenna and get the best one for signal strength.

MY REVIEW OF SHARE IT SMART BRO unlimited broadband 999 a month

My review of SMART BRO SHARE IT
What I like and some I don’t:
What I did like SHARE IT

1. The wireless modem is only G not N (many new laptops use N speed now) but its nice for sharing with others and easy to use and can be hooked up to a regular router for LAN connections or wireless service. With the Lan cable hooked directly you can get full maximum speed out of the router, even if G limits you to 54 kbps speed wireless.
2. Revised now to two year  lock in period but to be fair to consumers they should offer a trial as the speeds differ greatly depending on location.
3. It has both LAN connectors, and antenna connection to increase the signal strength compared to the SMART Bro plug it which has awful speeds even near cell towers with no antenna connection possible.
What I don’t like

1. There is no antenna provided in the package making the speeds very slow inside if you don’t buy an antenna. CDR King has antennas that can be attached to improve service or true techies can attach an outdoor antenna to the connection on the back of the router. Read my link here to get the manual, antenna places to buy, and other reviews at  http://fasterusb.blogspot.com/

2. The sign up process is supposed to be simple BUT IS NOT and few requirements but takes several trips to fill out application and then pick up unit. Since you pay for the unit in advance this complicated process is hard to undrestand since several of the phone companies now only require a simple ID and would increase useage of this neat product as well. So the sign up process should be simpler and would save SMART staff and money too!

4. SMART BRO plug it can be used anywhere in the nation but Share it can NOT. Why not??? Better to make Share it nationwide too regardless where you roam to use anywhere in the nation like plug it? Since it a very portable unit and used by students from all over the nation, it is not helpful that it is only limited to one province and makes it a much less desireable product. SMART please make it a nation wide product just like your plug it and let the sales bloom! Please take note SMART Bro marketing, we want to use it everywhere please.
5.. Router is locked to only SMART service  the router is useless after the end of the contract if not used with SMART service even if you own it.

SMART Bro should provide a test unit to try it at your location before locking you into a one year contract since they still insist in not giving a one week trial period which would solve many complaints!

This offer is for unlimited service in one province only at up to 2 kbps speed with wireless modem with a one year lock in period. P999 for the first month. http://smart.com.ph/bro/products/

My understanding is that Globe may be using the same router for their offerings. Sun as well has a wireless router at 500 pesos less but different brand.

Newly subscribe to Plan999 of Smart Bro Share It! So far, the connection is acceptable, in other words better than my previous Smart Bro (canopy). My Smart Bro had a stable speed of 44KB/s and 60+KB/s (after their speed improvement). With Share It!, my speedtest can sometimes reach more than 2Mb/s (download).
Blas Tiangco replied on Aug 1st, 2009 at 4:28 am Noticed a few things here and I think it is important to note:

1. Signal of SMART Bro still depends on nearest available cell site. Particularly, if that cell site is even upgraded to 3G. If it is line of site, signal is great and consistent.
2. There’s such a thing as maximum bandwith. If there are many people accessing the internet in one cell site, bandwith is shared between all subscribers, slowing down the internet. This is true in any scenario, wireless or cable or DSL.
3. Weather conditions also affect signal as well.

Jurdan August 5th, 2009   http://www.smartwifi.org.ph/smart-bro-news/smartbro-share-it-now-unlimited/  Comment:  I’m a smartbro agent, ive tried installing share-it to my clients, and it was ok, very good as long as you are covered by the hspa tower, just the other day, i did speed test in one of my client, at speedtest.net it reads 2.35mpbs were just about 500 meters from the smart tower   more power smartbro!!!

Here is another review Smart Bro Share It Review – P999 with Free WiFi Router and up to 2mbps  CommentsL  Biggie9385 August 10th, 2009

that’s what i’ve been complaining to the smart CSR. that login window is useless and it only consume memory resources. one instance of an open IE6 eats 50MB and is doing nothing. Smart told me that its their security protocol. I don;t understand how it became a security when you only have to click the YES button. Also, logging-in is not needed anymore since we’re subscribed to an U-N-L-I-M-I-T-E-D account.  update 12/09  I think Smart heard the concerns and eliminated this sign in requirement
